Make It Up Monday - Facing Freckles

Facing up to freckles

Adding freckles to your mug has been getting some serious traction on the runways and in the world of beauty of late.

Last year freckles really featured on the runways. Models were not only strutting their stuff down the catwalk but were also giving some serious freckle face. Keeping the makeup light and adding freckles was a very "purist" approach said Makeup Artist Charlotte Tilbury, reminding us the quite remarkable impact these grade 'A' artists can make on all things beauty.

Once upon a time freckles were covered up and some even found them to be an embarrassment. But now, with the help of a black or brown eyeliner, women are drawing freckles on their faces to enhance their beauty on purpose. What a glorious day! There are actual companies out there like “Freck Yourself” that are initiating a 'Freckled' movement and their product (something like a temporary tattoo) is really gaining steam. You can now create custom freckles in a custom color of your own choosing. Pretty incredible.

How To

To do at home, you would take a brown or black eyeliner pencil and simply dot on your face and twist up lightly to get an even distribution of color. You may apply after makeup or on a bare canvas...up to you. You may also wish to apply a translucent powder over it to make it seem transparent on your skin. I also recommend gently dabbing with your fingertip after application for a more natural look.

As a makeup artist myself...I have always loved freckles. When you see freckles peeking through under foundation...it’ so playful and real. Fake or real freckles aside...it just goes to show you that being yourself is most attractive in whatever skin you decide to be in.
