Throw away your eyelash curler forever. Seriously. You can get a far greater lash-loving effect from perming your lashes.

Perming, LashLift, Eyelash Enhancement Services - What Does It All Mean?

Permed lashes look longer than straight lashes because they provide added curl and enhancement. Perming lashes also helps to impart a wide, doe-eyed look. You need a pro perming your lashes, but it’s worth the visit and investment. Make sure you splurge on a trained professional in a salon or spa, and do not ever attempt to perm your lashes yourself. When performed properly, an eyelash perming treatment should be a gentle and relaxing experience, and when you open your eyes you’ll be thrilled at the result! If you’re new to the world of eyelash perming, read on to see what to expect and how it works. And if you’re an eyelash technician or an aspiring eyelash expert, then read on for my expert perming pointers.

Are You an Eyelash Technician? My Tips for Superior Perming Application

Perming eyelashes is perfect for clients who crave that extra curl for their natural lashes. Wake up with curled lashes and you’ve got one less to-do in your morning routine.

So... How Does Eyelash Perming Work?

First, lashes are coated with a special adhesive glue (aka fixing gel) and wrapped around either a silicone or cotton rod. The size of the rod used will depend on the length of the customer’s natural lashes and the curl you’re hoping to achieve. The longer the natural lash, the larger the rod needs to be. For shorter lashes, it’s best to use small and medium-sized rods. Just like perming hair, lashes need two solutions to get the job done. First, a perming lotion is applied and left on for a specific length of time. Once the perming lotion is completely removed, a neutralizing lotion is applied to help set the curl. I recommend using a keratin treatment or nourishing agent to help restore natural lash health after treatment.
Perming Kit by Glad Lash The Glad Lash LashLift Eyelash Perming Kit has everything a tech needs to perform the latest must-have service! Kit on sale during July.
For after care, you can also use a conditioner or boosting serum daily, such as DV Blooming Essence or Keracell, to prevent lashes from becoming brittle.

Safety Tips

  1. Make sure the eyes are closed during this entire procedure so no product gets in the eyes!
  2. Lashes should not get wet for 48 hours after treatment.
  3. Do not apply mascara for 48 hours.
The procedure takes about 45 minutes from start to finish, and results last anywhere from four to six weeks. The effects of the perm gradually become less pronounced as the lashes follow their natural life cycle.

Special Note

This service should not be done with anyone who is already wearing extensions. This service is safe to use in conjunction with tinting. You will want to perm the lashes before tinting. If your client is overly sensitive, and allergic reactions are a concern, I recommend performing a patch test on just a few lashes several days before the full treatment. This treatment should not be done more than once every four weeks - to protect the lashes from becoming brittle.

Get Maximum Benefit with a Tinting Treatment

For maximum wow effect, I recommend following up a perming service with a tinting treatment. This combo will give the lashes a longer and fuller look. As with any beauty service, professional training is imperative. Proper attention to the timing of the lotions must be followed so as not to cause any damage or harm to the lashes.

Hi Asia,
What is happening? Not enough curl? Try using a smaller sized silicon pad or curling rod to get a tighter curl and lift.

Also we definitely believe the tint is a “coating” is much like a semi permanent mascara bc we attempted it on brows and it was horrendous but we are wondering if serval coats allowing dry time in between would build a permanent mascara look (i.e.give the illusion that each individual lash is thicker in diameter) ….

Hi Esther! I purchased several kits for myself and two other esthi friends of mine to try out and we can’t seem to get s good result? Why do you think this is? The model clients have naturally long and normal density we have been both processing and neutralizing for about 14-18 mins each and the WOW factor just isn’t there….any suggestions?
