As an eyelash extension artist, there is one thing that can stop you in your tracks! It's difficult for even the most talented artist to handle... Fluttery eyelids!! Thankfully, I have a quick tip for you that will save the day 99% of the time. I was planning on using this one in the wellness series, at the end of my last volume course, when I realized that this life changing tip cannot wait!

Grounding Practice

Have your client place their right hand on their solar plexus chakra (located in the area of the belly button), and their left hand at the base of their breastbone. Instruct them to take a deep breath into their back through their nose. On the exhalation (through the mouth), instruct them to bring their awareness below their hands. Another good cue to use during exhalation is to become heavy just beneath where their hands are placed. Some might also respond to being asked to ‘drop into their body’ - underneath their hand placement. Three breaths maintained this way should do the trick! If you do not see an instant change, add a heavy pillow below their hands and repeat.

Why Does It Work?

Most of the time, when focusing on trying to keep the eyes shut, your client's consciousness is only in their head. Bringing consciousness lower into the body grounds them, and makes them fully present in the body. This technique is taught as a tool for self-soothing - to combat neurosis, stress, anxiety, or just simply over-thinking the ‘to-do’ list... Whatever the reason, this tip is a great antidote to fluttery eyelids! You may not be the one getting your lashes done, but I highly recommend trying this on your own as an embodiment meditation. It's also a good one to share with any children in your life. Not all, but a lot of eyelash artists, are highly empathic people with sensitivity to absorbing other peoples' stress and feelings - for good or bad. Spending three to five minutes in this practice facilitates resetting your vibe to your natural energy, so you can take a deep breath and put down anything that is not yours. Let me know how it works for you! I love hearing from you in the comments section below. ;) xo

When the light is too bright during my lash sessions, my eyes start to focus behind my lids and it’s very uncomfortable because my eyes want to open. I am going to try this next time.
