Brows 101 - Tinting, Trimming and Tweezing (Including My Tinting Recipe for Redheads!)

Wednesday Wink - Brows Tweezing and Tinting

Hey glad guys and glad girls! For this week's Wednesday Wink, I'm giving you a peek into how I design brows! We'll look at the "three T's" - tinting, trimming and tweezing, and I'll share a painless brow tweezing tip along with my personal recipe for tinting redheads :)

1. Always Start with a Tint

Tinting pulls any blonde/ peach fuzzy hairs into the mix, and gives brows an incredible luster. For a client that is growing their brows in, tinting can really help them have patience along the road to recovery. Tinting brows and having lashes, is my favorite way to go makeup free. Tinting also helps to get brows as full of a brow as possible, one of my personal life goals :) My favorite tinting product is Refectocil . For custom blends, I like to use Redken shades. Some of my favorite colors are: Moroccan Sand, Sun Tea or Cherry Cola.
Zombalia Brows Here’s a photo of me tinting one of my favorite redheads, for zombilla I use equal parts: light brown Refectocil, Redken Sun Tea & Redken Moroccan Sand.
Note: Redken color makes tint thin, you may need to use a little extra Refectocil to thicken, and always use extra caution around your client's eyes, of course!

2. Trim, Trim, Trim

I trim first before a single hair is removed. Starting with the half of the brow closest to your clients nose brush hairs straight up, do not cut all in one swoop. Instead, take little cuts along the line you would like to achieve - avoid a blunt edge. For the outside half of the brow comb hairs down and trim up to meet the arch line. I highly recommend my clients never to trim their brows on their own, a bad trim can go terribly wrong.

3. Painless Tweezing

Personally, I'm not a fan of using of wax on brows, I prefer tweezing as the alternative. The precision of tweezers is the way to go. I use classic slant tweezers. To create a painless tweezing experience, I glide at a steady rhythm on the client's skin - like I am using the edge to exfoliate. This technique blends the sensation of pulling hairs into the background, and also allows you to release any ingrowns easily.

Until next time ;)

A smooth, flawless wax can leave your skin looking and feeling incredible, but proper aftercare is essential to maintain those results and keep your skin healthy. Freshly waxed skin is more sensitive and needs extra attention to avoid irritation, redness, or ingrown hairs.
